Park Closures

Arnold's closing State Parks to save money...shades of what I posted about an economic slow down benefitting the wilderness...like what happend in collapse of Soviet Union...what one article says has benefitted Cuba's wild places for decades!

Larry King on and news and...the Real Estate boondogle...apparently these Real Estate loans to high risk buyers was invested in by overseas money...foreign investors. President Jackson had something to say about that...brb...

quote

Should the stock of the bank principally pass into the hands of the subjects of a foreign country, and we should unfortunately become involved in a war with that country, what would be our condition? Of the course which would be pursued by a bank almost wholly owned by the subjects of a foreign power, and managed by those whose interests, if not affections, would run in the same direction there can be no doubt. All its operations within would be in aid of the hostile fleets and armies without. Controlling our currency, receiving our public moneys, and holding thousands of our citizens in dependence, it would be more formidable and dangerous than the naval and military power of the enemy.
If we must have a bank with private stockholders, every consideration of sound policy and every impulse of American feeling admonishes that it should be purely American.

Sometimes I come to the thought that a Foreign Government is in control...and it resides in Washington!

But that re search turned up that George Bancroft wrote the veto speech...and that name rings a bell from my jfk posts...and elseware...brb....

There's the Bancroft library which has a lot of Yosemite art and things...want to go there...they have one of the figures of the Panay Incident papers too...

A short post tonight..it's late...and no pic..

Oh...I dont quite know how these Parks can be "closed" as people will sneak into them...and use the picnic benches and what not.

Actually, I have something wrong...the State Parks aren't about development...and it was developement halted by economic anemia that ocurred in the Soviet Union..and seems to be the steady state of Cuba!...and that helped the environment restore and maintain.
